Going to a presentation mode (tried with multiple pdf and epub files) and going
out of it using ESC and then again going to the presentation mode (either
ctrl+shift+p or from View toolbar) closes/crashes the file.

Works fine here, please post the output of running
valgrind okular
in a terminal and then trying to make it crash.

I am not able to reproduce the crash with when running as
valgrind okular
but i still have the issue when running as
okular

Can you attach the valgrind log of when you do so anyway? It may contain
interesting information still.
